Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept that is often associated with large multi-national corporations. The Fenton Team believes it is equally important for small businesses to study these concepts and do everything they can to be outstanding local, and global, citizens.
There are countless charities and initiatives that are doing great work in the Alberni Valley and around the world, making choosing where to focus one's time and resources a difficult task. The members of The Fenton Team decided to choose both a local and global charity that best fit their own personal beliefs.
Locally, The Fenton Team supports the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation - Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. This is an important, and under-addressed issue in any community, and Port Alberni is no exception. The Fenton Team was recognized as a top 10% donor nationally in 2016. In 2017 they continue to donate proceeds from every sale to this worthwhile charity and 100% of those funds are used locally in Port Alberni.
Globally The Fenton Team support Action Against Hunger – an international organization that saves the lives of severely malnourished children while helping vulnerable communities become self-sufficient. The Fenton Team donates proceeds from every sale to this amazing charity and 93% of those funds are used directly to help malnourished children around the world.
The Fenton Team have also leveraged their expertise and resources to create www.ValleyOfTrails.ca. This non-profit project is undertaken with an amazing group of volunteers in the Alberni Valley. The project's goal is to promote adventure tourism in the Alberni Valley through the use of internet marketing and social media.
Corporate Social Responsibility is nothing new to The Fenton Team. Below is an article published by the United Nations Refugee Agency:
Chris Fenton and Esther Fenton know the value of shelter. Mr. Fenton and Mrs. Fenton at The Fenton Team in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island are making a contribution to the UN Refugee Agency each time they help a client buy or sell a new home. Refugees are, by definition, people who have had to run from their home in search of safety for themselves and their families. The UN Refugee Agency is there, helping to provide shelter – both physical shelter from wind, rain, sand and snow, as well as protection from further abuse and violence. Generous donations from The Fenton Team, combined with the support of donors from around the world, make this work possible. The UN Refugee Agency in Canada would like to acknowledge and celebrate the exemplary corporate citizenship of Mr. Fenton and Mrs. Fenton.
